Thomas George Whittaker passed away on Sept. 24, 2026 in Maryland. Born on Nov. 18, 1929 in Blauvelt, NY to William and Bertha (Heinig) Whittaker, Tom served in the US Army from 1946–48. Tom retired from Orange & Rockland Utilities and was a member of the American Legion, Ham Radio Club, and the US Coast Guard Lake Gaston Civilian Auxiliary. He was predeceased by his wife, Lucille, who died in 2022. He is survived by his son, Kenneth Whittaker, and his wife, Colleen, of Bel Air, MD; his son-in-law Nick Megdanis, of Harleysville, PA; five grandchildren, David Whittaker, Kimberly Mooney, Daniel Whittaker, Cristen Wilson, and Lindsay Kakouriotis; and eight great-grandchildren. Tom was also predeceased by his daughter Linda Megdanis. Visitation will be held on Thu., Oct. 1st, 6-8pm at Moritz Funeral Home in Tappan. A service will be held Fri., Oct. 2nd, 10am at the funeral home with burial with military honors to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Nyack, NY.
