Obituary

Walter Kinkel, 86, a resident of Pearl River, NY, passed away on March 16th, 2023. He was born on January 22, 1937 to Casimir and Anastasia Kinkel at St. Catherine's Hospital in Brooklyn. Walter graduated from Brooklyn Automotive and served in the Naval Reserves from 1954-62. Walter loved his life in Rockland County and was a member of the Orangeburg Seniors and a parishioner of St. Catharine's Church in Blauvelt since 1981. Before retiring, he worked at Jim Smith Chevrolet in Chestnut Ridge for 20 years. He and his wife Barbara, who were married for 59 years, loved dancing to the oldies and traveling - especially to Ireland.

Walter was predeceased by his parents; his brother and sister-in-law, Casimir and Betty; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Andrew and Jane Kuneac.

He is survived by wife Barbara; niece Kelly-Beth Kinkel; and his Godchildren, Catherine Jimenez, Greg Silva, Denise Laughery and William Gilmore.

A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, March 20th, 10am at St. Catharine's Church in Blauvelt with burial to follow at St. Raymond's Cemetery in the Bronx. Visiting hours will be Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Moritz Funeral Home in Tappan.
